American Discovery 250 Relay | A coast-to-coast celebration

Be part of the American Discovery 250 Relay as it crosses Iowa - carrying a copy of the Declaration of Independence from the Pacific to the Atlantic. The American Discovery 250 Relay is a five-month, 6,800-mile journey along the nation's first coast-to-coast nonmotorized trail. It began at the Golden Gate Bridge on July 4 and finishes at the Atlantic Ocean on Thanksgiving Day.

This is not a race. It is a moving celebration of America's landscapes, communities, history and culture. Join for a mile, a morning, a full day - or simply welcome the relay as it passes through your community.

Choose the segment that fits your interests and ability. There is more than one way to join.

• Ride a full segment: Join one of the bike-focused days and help move the baton east.

• Walk or run a shorter stretch: Meet the relay at a starting point, community stop or finish.

• Welcome the relay: Cheer, volunteer or participate in a local gathering along the route.

• Bring your people: Recruit family, friends, coworkers or your local trail organization.
